Giving Back

As Jessica Clark shared in a recent blog post, Highlands Consulting was recently recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal as one of the area’s Best Places to Work in 2024. I attribute this recognition to many factors including the interesting work we do, the support of our leadership, and a very tangible sense of community and shared values among employees.

One of our core values is to volunteer locally, as a way of giving back to the community around us. In the same vein, we each donate $500 to the charity or charities of our choice at the end of the year. This is one of my favorite Highlands traditions. Over an in-person luncheon, each team member shares their chosen charity and why it is important to them. It’s a terrific way to get to know your colleagues on a more personal level and also learn about the many different organizations serving our communities. (There’s also a holiday attire competition if that helps explain some of the fashion choices in the picture.)

This year we donated more than $15,000 to 25+ charities, as listed on our Community webpage. In this holiday season of giving thanks and reflection, I’m proud and grateful to say I work at one of the Best Places to Work in the Sacramento region.
