This month, our Highlands Consulting Team boarded the River Fox Train in West Sacramento to travel along a scenic 10-mile stretch of track through Yolo’s countryside. Despite the hot weather, we enjoyed our time in the open-air car (and the air conditioned one!), having dinner and drinks, and taking in the sights of Sacramento from a unique perspective.
Originally built in 1911 by Northern Electric Co., the track transported passengers in the Sacramento areas. Electric passenger travel came to an end in 1941, but the line remained active with diesel freight, creating a link between the Sacramento Valley farmlands and the rest of California.
Connecting with my colleagues and meeting their families – on a train with a historical journey – was a great experience. Check out this short video with snapshots of our evening here. In addition to scenic rides, the train offers murder mystery dinners, comedy nights, and railbikes. I’ll be back!
