Playing a Part in “Rebuilding California”

Published by Charles Roberts

It has been almost two years since the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was signed. This landmark law includes federal policy direction and funding for climate action, zero-emissions vehicle deployment, social equity, and multi-modal transportation investments – all critical initiatives for our State.

Highlands Consulting continues to support the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) IIJA Sub-Working Group in implementation of this “once-in-a-generation” legislation. Thus far, California is leading the nation in implementing IIJA funded projects and the proof is in the numbers:

  • $15.19 billion allocated for transportation-related projects
  • $3.7 billion invested in over 540 transportation projects
  • 47,992 jobs created
  • 23.96% of awarded contracts went to Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), exceeding the State’s goal
  • $2.6 billion in discretionary grant funding for 386 transportation projects, representing 10.39% of the national total

As this monumental funding continues to benefit Californians, the transportation community and its stakeholders are committed and focused on Rebuilding California. I am grateful to be a part of the Highlands team that is helping our State with this critical effort!
